Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is a global program that has been implemented in Europe since 2015. It aims to prevent the loss of plastic granulates such as pellets, flakes and powder along the entire plastics value chain and thus protect the environment. The initiative was launched by the plastics industry and offers companies concrete measures and training to minimize the unintentional loss of these materials during production, transport and processing. A voluntary European OCS certification system has been in place since February 2023, which establishes harmonized processes and procedures for controlling and documenting pellet losses along the entire supply chain.
Transportation plays a decisive role in the value chain. Ecological responsibility is a central concern for LIFA Logistics, which we have anchored as a key corporate objective. By participating in the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) program, we are committed to the principles of “Zero Pellet Loss” and are actively committed to environmental protection.
The six commitments of the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) program in Europe include:
- Optimization of the production facilities: Adaptation of facilities to prevent the loss of plastic pellets.
- Implementation of internal guidelines: development and communication of procedures to prevent granulate losses.
- Training of employees: Raising awareness and training staff to ensure commitment to “Zero Pellet Loss”.
- Regular reviews: Conducting audits to ensure compliance with the measures.
- Compliance with legal requirements: Ensure compliance with all relevant state and local regulations.
- Motivating partners: Encouraging contractors, freight forwarders, dealers and other partners to pursue the same goals.
